7 Films That Capture Central Park, New York City

Are you heading to New York City any time soon? Is Central Park on your list of places to visit? Watch some of these movies to get in an even more excited mood to visit ‘The Big Apple.’ They would be great to watch on the plane ride over the Atlantic Ocean.

Trainwreck

This is such a funny movie!!! Starring the hilarious comic Amy Schumacher, but the surprisingly a lot of laugh out loud moments comes the basketball layer, Lebron James. The back drop of New York City plays a major part of the film. One of the best moments is a dating montage whereby the main characters have numerous dates but the most romantic is when they drive moat boats with remote controllers. This area can be found inside the World Famous Central Park, close to an Alice In Wonderland statue. Definitely, worth a visit.

Friends with Benefits

Another romantic comedy, but this time starring Mila Kunis, and Justin Timberlake. These two have great chemistry and they walk around the city visiting many popular tourist spots. Add a stop to Bethesda Terrace when you’re in Central Park, this is where Justin tries to chat up a woman on the stairs.

Home Alone 2

Perhaps not as good as the first movie in the trilogy but you cannot deny that the chase scene through central park is an exhilarating and exciting adventure. Also, its where the bird lady lives.

Serendipity

Perhaps the worst film on this list but still a super cute film with Kate Beckinsale and 80’s favourite John Cusack. Do you agree? But its portrayal of Central Park is lovely, as we see it during the winter months.

When Harry met Sally

One of the best films of the 80’s, and one that can be watched and re-watched many times. This film stars Meg Ryan when she was at the height of her career and Billy Crystal, who is as lovable as ever.  The great thing about this film is it shows New York City in all its glory for all 4 seasons.

Enchanted

Pure fairy tale magic, with animation and live action. Amy Adams plays Gisele a girl that everybody either wants to be or be best friends with. Central Park plays a large part in this film. An entire song is performed in there including “The Lake.”

Cruel Intentions

A popular film for teenagers in the 1990’s and has somewhat of a cult following. Back then same sex kisses were few and far between. The kissing scene in this film became iconic. It was between Sarah Michelle Gellar aka Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Selma Blair. Central Park is where this infamous scene was filmed.

There are hundreds and probably thousands more films that have scenes in Central Park. Which ever ones you choose to watch you’ll have a great time walking around the whole park.  If you’re still unsure if New York City is the city for you, check out ‘Nightlife: Las Vegas vs New York City,’ to see what you can expect.
